About Us
Our Sacred Heritage
A century of devotion, woven into the streets of Metiabruz.
History
Mokib Babul Hawaij a.s was founded in the historic neighbourhood of Metiabruz — the settlement established by the exiled Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Awadh in 1856. With the Nawab came the rich tradition of Lucknowi Azadari, and from those very seeds our Mokib grew to become one of the most cherished mourning organizations of Bengal.
For generations, the Alam of Mokib Babul Hawaij has been raised every Muharram, leading processions through the narrow lanes of Metiabruz. The number 110 represents the numerical value of "Ali" in Abjad, and 313 represents the loyal companions of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) — sacred numbers we carry as a banner of faith.
Our Mission
To preserve, protect, and transmit the timeless tradition of Shia Azadari to every coming generation. To honour the sacrifice of Imam Husain a.s, the Ahl al-Bayt and the martyrs of Karbala through Majlis, Juloos, Tabaruk, and the cultivation of community. To uphold the teachings of the Twelve Imams and serve humanity in their blessed name.
